Ladies and Gentlemen,

As new Turkish Ambassador to Abuja, I would like to thank you all for being with us here tonight to share our joy and pride as we celebrate our Victory Day.

This year we commemorate and celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the final battle of our War of Independence led by the commander-in-chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

This glorious victory paved the way for the foundation of our modern state.

We remember once again with deep gratitude, our great leader Atatürk, his comrades, all heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our nation.

May God bless their souls and may they rest in peace.

The Turkish nation, under the leadership of her great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, started to build a modern, prosperous, strong and peaceful state and society.

Their vibrant soul has been the driving force of Turkey.

Turkey is a peaceful, responsible and constructive member of the international community.

The famous saying of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, “Peace at Home, Peace in the World” has always been the basis of Turkish Foreign Policy.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Turkey’s relations with Africa have been developing speedily during the previous years. Africa has been a priority in our foreign policy.

Nigeria occupies a special place in Turkey’s relations with Africa as our strong and strategic partner with great potential.

Nigeria is Turkey’s biggest trade partner in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Trade volume of our countries has exceeded 2.4 billion USD mark last year.
With this understanding, we encourage Turkish investments in Nigeria, and seek more economic, commercial, cultural and educational ties.

Turkish Airlines has also regular flights to Abuja, Lagos and Kano.

I wish to thank all of our Nigerian partners and representatives of Turkish Airlines for this achievement.

Dear Friends,

Taking this opportunity, I would also like to express that Turkey, which has been suffering from terrorism, supports Nigeria’s struggle against terrorism.

We believe that international and regional cooperation against terrorism is very important to eradicate the terror throughout the world.

Turkey believes Nigeria has enough power and experience to overcome all of her difficulties and challenges.

Distinguished Guests,

I would also like to thank all Nigerian authorities, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in facilitating our work of improving and furthering the relations between our two friendly countries and partners.

Furthermore behalf of myself, let me express my deep appreciation to Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Nigerian authorities for their warm reception and hospitality since I have come to Abuja.

I also would like to thank;

My colleagues who worked very hard to make this special night a success,

And you once again for being with us at this special day for Turkey and the Turkish nation.

Thank you!
